This was actually the first time i'd ever written present tense! I was so insanely happy with the way it turned out.
It's been my experience that details are fine as long as the character is experiencing them. Just telling the reader what they're seeing isn't good enough, you kind of have to show them how the character is living *through* the details. Then they seem totally real without being a laundry list.
And i'd LOVE to go. A person can only do so much research on the net!
You should see all the research i'm doing for NYC City Hall. It's ridiculous.
